We're actively seeking new members... do you have what it takes to become a Tabler? Weymouth Round Table meets twice a month for a meal, either at the Hotel Prince Regent or at some outside venue. The meetings can take any forms, including having guest speakers, visits to local, and not so local attractions or visits to the other Tables in the area. When you become a member of Weymouth Round Table you are not just joining a local club, you are becoming a member of a national association of Round Tablers who can be found all over the British Isles. In fact there are over 1200 Tables in Britain and Ireland, with a membership of over 15,000. This fact alone means you can travel virtually anywhere in the country and you will be able to find another Round Tabler with which you share the common bond of belonging to the same association. What is more, being a Round Tabler does not stop at being a member of a national organisation, the Round Table of Great Britain is also a member of the world-wide association of the men's clubs. Who joins? The members of Round Table come from all walks of life and join for a variety of reasons - perhaps as a gateway to relaxation and to enjoyment, or as a way of participating in the local community. It is, of course, an ideal way for those who have moved into a new area to find new friends of a similar age.Membership of Round Table helps to create confidence and character. The individual learns quickly to mix and 'have-a-go' at helping to organise and run meetings and events. The organisation is run by and for Tablers as a hobby. How do I become a member? After attending as a guest for a time, potential members are invited to join. There are no barriers regarding one's political, religious, occupational or marital status and the only qualification is to be male, over 18 and under 45. Costs & Committments? There is an annual subscription fee of £170. All members are required to attend at least 60% of meetings (these are twice a month and will often include a meal and drinks) and to support and participate in as many of the other activities as possible. As with any hobby the more you put in, the more you get out. This is the challenge of Round Table. What if i move to another part of the country? This is where being a member of Round Table really pays off. If you move elsewhere there will be a Round Table Club close by. Once a member of Round Table always a member. If you find yourself in an unfamiliar village, town, city or country then there will be a group of friends waiting to welcome you,. all you have to do is phone them and say that you've moved in. You then simply transfer from your old Table to the new one. |
